i think it'd be cool to include all of my songs because i want the attention/people to hear them when they download famitracker but i don't want to say that outright in the thread so instead i'll just post suggesting my tracks be included as a means of helping newcomers learn how to use FT.

Likewise.

Nonsense! Posts can get to great lengths here sometimes. That's the beauty of forums. So long as it's constructive, it doesn't matter.

We're all friendly here - you have nothing to worry about. ^____^

You know, I just thought of this, but, maybe on first use you would pick a tutorial song to run or to skip it and the tutorial songs would all be easy-to-reproduce/easy-to-make-better-versions-of songs. All containing step tutorials. Kinda like a basic effects song, and advanced effects song, a manual effects song and some sample instruments.

Kind of like FL Studio has a song that runs the first time the user uses the program?

That's not a bad idea, but only jsr knows whether he can pull it off or not. If he could, then that would rock out. If not, then I would just settle for an "examples" folder like in th olden days of tracking, cos I'm old school like that.

Well, the point is this:

1. We all want to pitch in with some form of a tutorial (wether or not it's for fame or for no real reason, that's for the individual to decide).

2. We know that most people don't even care to read any program documentation before they go head-long into FamiTracker (or any other program, for that matter); there's a need to create some form of a help system/tutorial that will entice new users to actually read it & learn... Even if it means JSR would have to create an opt-out pop-up menu that launches every time FamiTracker's executed.

3. We all know that everyone has different styles & skill levels (& yes; I regard myself as a beginner,) so there's also a need to cater to users of all skill levels. So what says we can't/shouldn't include advanced tunes from advanced users like Dave & nicetas_c, along with extremely simple tracks from other users?

I guess it'll also help to lessen the amount of repeat questions that appear on this forum, too.

You suddenly remind me of introducing people into doing accurate covers using Action 52...

Either that or trying to make a half-decent cover of the Father Ted opening theme.

Here's another thing:
Many people don't even come to the forums and post their songs until they're at least a little good at using FamiTracker. And many people think it embarassing to post simple songs without a REALLY good reason. Meaning you would have to convince people that they'd be doing good for the world if they contribute simple songs, when they're not really doing good for the world, just the FT community.

That said, people should already know that they'd only be doing good for others in the emu scene.

As a matter of fact, I somewhat fit that exact same description; my first post was an otherwise crappy cover of Clubbed To Death (Kurayamino Variation,) but it wasn't my first composition.

Same with me. But I posted a clean song that could actually pass for a level end.

That, Demick12, is an excellent FTM file; a great way to demonstrate the note slide/portamento effects, volume column, instrument settings, tempo settings & DPCM. Even if it might be considered basic by the best trackers out there, that's what makes it excellent!

Well, I've finished a tutorial set of 5 basic tracks; they're nothing more than excerpts from 5 PDF, GIF & PNG files containing standard musical notation. Check the attachment & tell me if they're worthy enough to (at least) be considered as beginner tutorials.

(And I created the files in FamiTracker 0.3.0; I haven't had enough time to get started with the final release of 0.3.5.)

Here's a song that I think we're all familiar with, but this is the original version of the song.

Was that made with FamiTracker 0.3.5 stable? Because I could actually run this in FamiTracker 0.3.0!

By the way, it's well done.
