Wow, having no internet makes me do some strange things. I wrote a program with the sole purpose of converting every waveform from Cave Story into an FDS instrument. So here's all 100 Waveforms used in Cave Story:

You could have used NSFPlay for that but still that's pretty cool. Can you upload the program here?

I tried to but it's too large.

EDIT: Ooh wait, I just learned how to split files, there you go.

Open the program and it will prompt you to load a file. Select a (very small) .wav file and it will attempt to convert it into FDS format. Press left and right to see the exact values inside the wav file, and press space to select another file. It's really sloppy and weird since I made it for personal use and I'm just learning how to edit bytes and things.

EDIT: I've been testing it a bit and I'm starting to think that this doesn't work well with some wav files... They might need to be 22KHz 8bit files, or I just did something completely wrong.

Alright, I SUCK at making instruments and found this thread extremely helpful (to the bumpmobile!)

Anyway, I'm trying to recreate songs from the Final Fantasy series, and I've got some instrument requests. First off, does anyone have 8-bit versions of the instruments in FFVII? If not, can anyone make them, because I certainly can't.

Dude, you just have to spend more time on instruments. Some people actually spend more time making instruments than they do the songs they're used in.

And, I don't have any instruments of the type, I also forget all the songs in FFVII even though I used to spend oogles of time on it.

What he said is entirely true:

Personally though, I think the amount of time I spend on tweaking instruments makes me lose my inspiration, so I tend to use blanks and use the effect tracks instead. Perhaps I should try and make my instruments on free time (or leech off this thread, heh) so I'd have them ready when the time comes to use them.

My point is, either spend ludicrous amounts of time setting up your instruments just right, or don't spend any time on them and use commands whenever possible instead. Both are feasible.

Ha, I know I do! My famitracking time is 75% instrument tweaking, 15% copying notes off a MIDI, and 10% deciding what note to play on what track.

On an unrelated note (but more related to the thread), here's a VRC7 choir. It sounds best when used in chords.

I would post some instruments here to compliment this topic's re-activity, but I haven't used my desktop in so long the power button has a dust bunny.

How is that in any way related to my statement about one's free choice of a method to work with FamiTracker?

Here's the instruments to Rollerblade Racer and Sesame Street: Countdown. Note that this is only a beta release and I don't think all the instruments have been ripped. Though they are from different development companies, they are the same driver.
