Okay... I took it upon myself to try to make that wobbly fade-in-out sounding instrument at the start of Dust Man's stage in Mega Man 4 'cause I love that sound, and I wanted it real bad, and I've never seen/heard Dust Man's theme in Famitracker before. (if there is, i wanna see/hear!)

This is my very first time ever making an instrument... It sounds pretty close, I think... but I think maybe someone can touch up the numbers a bit if it needs it?

You had the sound volume just about right. Only a little modification needed for that, and the pitch(frequency).

Maybe you can use something out of this module. The module is actually a cover of the song I just whipped up some hours ago, although some instruments play differently depending on whether you use Famitracker, or an NSF player. It's a bit cluttered because I didn't go out of my way to use Famitracker's own effects(changing the speed, portamento, etc.), so there's close to 30 different instruments for this one song that do similar things, but differ in the slightest because I was copying the exact note. Some of the instruments are modified, as well.

I know it's not perfect, but it's close to sounding like the real thing. Anyone can alter the instruments to their specifications if they want. Hopefully, you'll find what you need here.

*EDIT*

I fixed the module up a bit, and I've used the speed commands instead of instruments, so it should sound closer to the original song. I've been busy lately, so if anyone wants to change anything here, they're welcome to it.

I know kinkijkinkin asked for a VRC6 guitar, and I'd like one too. I made one that, quite honestly, DOES NOT do the job as I wanted. I'm looking for an overdrive or distorted sample (honestly either one is fine but the one I made is just too....soft and hopeless to do anything).

The song I'm doing is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSxKxCz9M4s and I think it's distorted but I just want something better than the one I have atm.

Hello,

I'm new to these forums, but I have been a part of others, as well as been working with this program for a few months now. I was wondering if anyone could help me understand what each specific value does to change the sound. The wiki just tells you what the range of acceptable values is. I'm also trying to find a nice sound with some bite, like a distorted guitar. I want to make a heavier song, and can't quite seem to find a direction to go with the instrument maker.

Thanks,

Adam

Nice writup. [/sarcasm]

This isn't a thread to introduce yourself. Also, someone already posted one of those for the VRC7.

Now that was uncalled for.

@arweryn: Can you be more specific? I'm having a hard time coming up with an answer to your question. :\

Welcome Arweryn. Not sure which values you're talking about. Are you using a certain expansion chip? For some pure 2a03 distorted guitar, check this out.

DAMMIT KIJKIN!!! DON'T BE MEAN TO NEW MEMBERS.

Anyway, kinkinkijkin is right this is an instrument thread, not an introduction thread, so, here's that instrument you ordered, if it helps.

OH, and welcome to the forums

-IaTM

ALSO: it's for VRC7

I go with nay, but I guess a separate introduction thread would encourage lurkers to join the fun.
