...Yet can't anyone write a slow song anyway? It seems like it wouldn't be all that hard. I mean, 40 BPM is about the slowest anyone could go, and has been done by some classical musicians.

Okay, it's time for me to get ridiculous here and post something really slow. However I am going to warn you now: the ear-rape factor is high with this. Let me finish it first.

Edit: Finished. I hope this doesn't break any rules, and if it does tell me where. I use custom envelopes and echoes for instruments to keep it moving a bit.

Ear-rape: the concept of hurting eardrums after something jarring to them had taken place (in this case playing a tone from the 2A03 pulse channel for a long period of time).

Also called "I have to shut this damn thing off before my eardrums disintegrate".

My version of the definition, at least...

Also, this took me 6 minutes. I can now see where you are coming from, rushjet1.

Though, when I was talking about talent, I was referring to the Megaman 2 menu screen thingy that was on here.

Because the forum is buggy, most likely.

Made a small one as a failed experiment of Megaman 2 (GB) composing style. Disqualify at your own wish, because it uses FDS modulation which is not mentioned in the rules.

Actually, since your modulation rate and depth are both set to zero, you didn't actually use modulation.

It must not use arpeggios or pitch/hi-pitch. If you need something off the beat, use Gxx. If you need a pitchbend, use Pxx, 1xx, or 2xx.

It could be worse... My entry!

(And yes; as vocal as I was about this contest's ridiculous speed limit, I still decided to make something. One single instrument at 20 PBM, using vibrato & portamento slides for a sad, yet creepy & horrible sound. Made in FamiTracker 0.3.0, including an NSF file. This took me 6 minutes to make as well.)

I called it A Snail's Funeral March because it's sombre, creepy & horribly slow for a chiptune.

Nothing was said about vibratos &, considering that they're not against the rules of this contest, I assume they're perfectly allowable.
