That's true too; if anyone really wants something without as many limits as FamiTracker, then they should look for an XM/IT tracker. But again; it goes back to the reason behind NSF.

I'm sure those who prefer using NSF do so because there are so many NSF players available (as well as the fact that many people dont' understand the true limits). This said, there's also an equal (or greater) amount of IT/XM/MOD players.

But now I see what you're saying; it makes no real difference if anyone does a multi-channel XM track or a multi-channel FTM. All that's really different is that FamiTracker already has the general audio built-in, while you have to import your own WAV samples in a normal tracker.

Answer to OP: It might be possible in the future. The tracker itself can already handle multiple chips, all that's needed is a way to enable them (i.e. some check boxes instead of a list). The only thing left is to adapt the NSF code to handle multiple chips and that's probably gonna take some time.

It was mentioned that it isn't possible on the famicom, but that's not quite true. For example the TNS-HFC2 cart makes it possible. One possible reason against it could be that this kind of sound never existed in any games, however it is supported by the NSF format (for some strange reason) and there already are a number of tunes using it so I don't see why not, there will always be the option to not use it.

It's not top priority though, if you want to do it now then you have to use MCK or it2nsf.

That TNS-HFC2 cartridge looks like one crazy mess with its circuit board. How the hell did they manage to support all those sound chips without having any conflicts?

As for NSFs supporting it, it's because NSFs are based off of the iNES standard (which we all know is flawed anyways). But if it works, why not?

I kinda figured that, even if there was any chance of it being added, it wouldn't be any where near top priority, and I'm perfectly fine with that. I'm sure if said feature is eventually added, I'll still be using FamiTracker at that point.

And wow. That's one monster of a cart. Just... Wow.
