I used it, NSF export is totally broken (exported myself), its good that it has raw pcm but, FamiTracker is actully one of the best trackers I've EVER encountered.

MOAR chips might be good but theres sometimes limitations that someone can't do.

Live with that people.

NSF export is not totally broken. Most NSF players are just unable to support the methods used by the Deflemask driver to enable 7bit PCM. Use NSFPlay 2.3.

And uh, who made you the all-knowing reference in what can or cannot be done? Quit acting like you know everything, it's getting annoying.

I would like to see all dressed, or at least salt and vinegar chips in the next release.

I will just begin to ignore posts with only bad attitudes.

If you think that something should be improved, nice, I love some feedback and I always try to incorporate requests to next releases, but please, explain why and what are those points that you would love to change. Posts with "UI needs improvements", "UI should be more like FamiTracker", "I don't like the mask", "NSF is broken", "The buttons are too dark", etc, etc etc; are just not useful posts.

DefleMask will never be like FamiTracker, UI and tracker approach are different on purpose (OLD school UI and a Multi-System Music program). Also, don't be so mean, if a guy can do something like this, then the tracker isn't that bad. :P

Yeah, sorry Delek for causing all that uproar.

Actually, regarding the UI... I think that it is an actual problem. On my friend's computer, I tried to show him what Deflemask was, and I got some fancy error about graphics not working or something when Famitracker chugged along just fine. Unfortunately I am not able to provide any more information, but could you look a bit into this?

Also, could you add a keyboard shortcut to change to the instrument editor? And if there is one, I apologize for my ignorance in advance and please let me know what it is for future reference. Thanks in advance!

How is that related to the User Interface of the program?

By the way, the new release of NSFPlay (2.3) is out today, and it's able to play Deflemask NSFs just fine.

Is this supposed to be Famitracker's big brother or something? Not sure.

Well, seeing that Deflemask has a custom DLL for the GUI which is based on GFLW... Idk, I'm no developer...

If this were Famitracker's big brother, then it would be open-sourced, have a more modern interface similar to FamiTracker's, not have exclusive features, and support multiple songs in one module. No, this is a tracker that he posted here, knowing that the people here would be interested in it.

I am not sure if i found a bug or i just don't understand how SID chip works, but here is how to reproduce it:
- open DefleMask and switch to SID 8580
- open Rael64.dmf from examples (nice tune, btw)
- go to instrument list, select "raelbass" instrument and play some notes of it with keyboard(in that "preview" mode, not the one when the notes are entered into a module)
- now select "rael05A" instrument and try to play some notes again. They do not sound like they should, it looks like this fancy filtering from "raelbass" now applies to "real05A".

Also one minor thing - is there a way to disable splash screen other than editing config.ini? I remember some earlier version when you could do this from interface, now it is gone.

It is not a bug, you don't understand how filtering works on SID and when the filter is written, the main point is that filter is global. So you will get the filter changed from another instrument or channel, but you can choose which ones will get or store values from filter with two checkboxes (Use filter from instrument, Apply filter to instrument).

rael05A instrument doesn't have checked "Use filter values from instrument", that checkbox is really useful, because it will decide if the instrument will write on the filter or only read from it. Neither has checked "Apply filter to instrument", but if you play with raelbass then the channel will be enabled to pass trough the filter.

rael05A is only reading from the filter, this means that it will get the filter in the state that another instrument/effects left.

If you check "Use filter values from instrument" you can avoid that change in sound in the preview, in other cases, it will sound with the latest values in the SID's filtering engine.

The SID is a very very difficult chip. There are global values, per channel values, per instrument values, all playing around together and at the same time. xD

About the second point, I don't know if I accidentally removed an interface shortcut to disable the intro screen, I really don't remember adding that. Right now the only way is to set skip_intro to 1 inside the config.ini

Can you please expalian to us how people use instruments on the C64? It's hard to believe what your saying when we have songs with what seems to be multiple instruments(at least a bass, Drums with noise wave etc.) Not really trying to be spiteful, because I don't understand the C64 either.

Easy fix: Write the filter values so that it has no effect when an instrument is played in preview mode with filter effects unchecked. This way it's not going to mess anything up when actually playing the song, (that is if you reset the entire the filter emulation when a song starts playing) and you can still listen to what your instruments ACTUALLY sound like.
(Actually, this could go for editing mode as well, if an instrument is used with no filtering applied, then why should we hear it with the filter settings of the previously used instrument laying down notes?)

I never said that you can't use multiple instruments, I have said that you don't have one filter per channel, you have only one filter for all channels and all instruments.
