Seems to be a particular problem (that error code is very common when you mix different versions of Microsoft Runtime Library), a lot of people use DefleMask without any problems. Weird.

A few suggestions (I've only used Beta 2 so I don't know if these were addressed):

1) Is it necessary for the effect range to be so big? Even if so, it's kind of annoying and tedious to memorize effect ranges rather than discrete values (i.e. something like making panning be 0 = off/center, 1 = left, 2 = right). At least make the volume range smaller (I think there are 32 values? So from 0-20 or something would be a lot easier to work with than the current setup.)

2) The maximum vibrato speed is way too slow, can you make it go faster? Or make it like famitracker's where you can adjust the depth and speed separately?

Actually, making this program work as similar to famitracker as possible would be awesome, but I understand if you don't want to. But seeing as how you yourself use famitracker, I don't think it's a bad idea to try to make the learning curve of the software easier to famitracker users.

Good work so far!

The panning is not just left, center and right. There are actually many values, for volume there are 32 values, but some effects needs 127 values.
The values processing in DefleMask is just how the soundchip process the values. I can add a "parser like" only for volume and vibrato values, but in the case of portamento up/down/to-note there are 127 values, so, that effects needs all the range.

I think that you're confusing some things. DefleMask is a FM Tracker, the vibrato speed is controlled by the LFO, and it max speed is constant.
I think that the max LFO value is just acceptable. You are taking into account the LFO parameter?, keep in mind that FM trackers are very different than standard trackers. Some controllers need to be set outside of the patterns.

Other option is "simulate" vibrato using pitch bending (like TFM Music Maker does), but that's like a hack, the soundchip doesn't support vibrato in that way. But the range of depth and speed could be arbitrary in that way.

Famitracker GUI is based on MadTracker but DefleMask GUI is trying to be similar to the old school trackers, like FastTracker, ProTracker, Adlib Tracker, etc. I'm trying to attract old school trackers fans.

I think that the Famitracker GUI is great, but it creates bad habits.

Thanks for the questions and for use DefleMask!. :D

Oh, I didn't know that the panning had more values. I guess I got the wrong idea from the manual--sorry about that.

As for the vibrato, I'm pretty sure I had it at max LFO speed and it still seemed pretty slow; Not fast enough for an expressive vibrato at the end of a note for example.

As far as "hacks" go, don't most trackers do that? I mean, I'm pretty sure no sound-chip expressly featured arpeggios, and yet most trackers have an arpeggio command. But it is your tracker, this is just my opinion.

I can understand wanting it to be old school style, I guess I'll just have to learn the interface . Thanks for the answers and keep up the good work.

Keep in mind that English is not my native language, if you don't understand that clearly, there is a possibility that I have explained using incorrect words. I will change the Panning explanation for a more detailed one in the Beta 3 release, thanks.

7.2hz is a very good fast vibrato, I think. Maybe the depth of the vibrato can be the problem. And, yes, I think that this soundchips have a little vibrato depth.

Well, arpeggio is not a hack, the arpeggio command is simply a lot of notes in a short period of time.
But, you're right saying that most of trackers do hacks, however, some FM YAMAHA soundchips featured internally Amplitude Modulation and Frequency Modulation features. So, trying to replace that soundchip features with others custom technics, seems to be a hack to jump over the soundchip features.

Btw, that's not bad at all, but I'm trying to give DefleMask the power of control the soundchip inside the soundchip range, when full version comes out, I will add some crazy effects that the soundchip doesn't support natively. :D
