It all depends on the speed / songs, using the clock speed (NTSC, PAL, or custom), such as the time G00 - G01 Type - G02 No. rhythm of the finest works, but sometimes you need to experiment with different values...

At least its posts are more productive and relevant than nicetas_c's.

Anyway, as much as I'd like to, I (nor any of the mods) don't have the power to ban it. Only jsr can do that, so it'll have to wait until he visits the forum again.

There's no need for personal attacks out of the blue.

I know I learned a thing or two from nicetas_c. So although he wasn't always productive and relevant, he's been more of a help to me then 95% of the members here.

I think that I missed something. What happened with nicetas_c?. Why he has escaped from this forum?.

The word is that he found a bug with the forum software and instead of reporting it, he used it to read other members' PMs (and it got him banned).

He got banned. He'd already been acting like a dick, and then it was discovered he was secretly reading PMs via a security hole (which has since been fixed).

(EDIT: I got ninja'd by tadpole there, heh.)

I for one hope he never comes back. There's no way to have an intelligent discussion with him, ever. To quote Dave, he lives in his own little world and goes by his own rules, rules by which everyone else has to abide. He's talented yes, he knows much more than I'll ever do about the NES's technical aspects and everything, but in a community like this one he's worthless.

That, and abusing forum software to violate privacy is absolutely inacceptable and grounds for permanent ban in my book.

Oh, I can see now.

He appeared to be a good person, maybe he was a little bad with some users, however, with me, has never been rude. Thanks for the info, guys.

Yep; Chaquan's a bot (even though I find it odd to see an American spam bot, let alone an "intelligent" spam bot).

As for nicetas_c, he's never been rude to me either. But I've noticed that many of his comments on the forum were very incoherent. Sure; he'd have intelligent information concerning technical aspects of the tracker & the NES, but other things (especially his opinions on the creative process of others) weren't exactly what I'd call neutral (he didn't really base his opinions on the full spectrum of the situation; he'd judge too heavily towards beginners without considering their level of knowledge about either the tracker, or music in general). Even on OSTs.

Mind you, I wouldn't say that what he has contributed is worthless in this community; you've got to remember that FamiTracker's community is a mix of both the emulation scene & the music scene (where it helps to be a Jack of all trades). If it weren't for him, tadpole, tssf, Mex & several others, I'd still be a complete idiot when it comes to tracking. I just wonder what was his motivation to hack the forum & read other members' PMs...

From what I gather, he wanted to know why I had locked the topic in which we were discussing tempo n shit. Either that or he was just browsing random PMs and happened to stumble across that one PM in which I mentioned it. Either way, he told me directly that he had found the PM, and had the balls to command me not to tell jsr about it.

I've banned Chaquan, and I also agree about bringing up nicetas_c here was just unnecessary. But well, since the topic has been brought up; it is of my understanding that not everyone want to see him banned, so I will consider giving him another chance. But that is ONLY if he can prove that he will behave in a way where other members won't be bothered, and that not the majority here is against it. One problem is that I've tried to talk to him several times prior to the ban, but either he didn't understand or refused to listen, so I'm not sure what to do. Any input on this would be appreciated.

TechEmporium: I don't think he actively tried to "hack" the forum just for that purpose, but rather found it by chance. Still it doesn't change the fact that he tried to take advantage of it.

Well, just taking into account his recent behaviour (that is, just weeks before he was banned), it doesn't take long to draw the same conclusions you did: he refuses to respect authority (or doesn't understand why he should), make any sort of change to his attitude or indeed accept that this isn't the nicetas_c forums but the FamiTracker forums.

I know it's a sad, sad thing that such a bratty and socially inept kid be coupled with one of the most NES-intelligent people around, but that's something we'll just have to accept and live with. I, too, hoped he would accept the reprimands we made and make changes to his attitude for the best, but I think in the end he brought more negativity here (at least during the time I was around) via his bashing what he labels "inaccurate", trolling and scaring newcomers away, and otherwise pretending we all have to agree with him (and victimising himself by saying we're anti-purist, anti-precision and whatnot when we don't). I'd also like to say it's annoying at best when, as a moderator in an otherwise peaceful and fun community to be in, we have to constantly be on the lookout for his unconstructive / hateful posts.

My vote goes to the permanent ban, not because I personally want him gone, but because I believe those are all good reasons to keep a member like him at bay. It's sad, but that's just the way it is - in my point of view, at least.

I think an anonymous vote would probably be the best course of action to avoid possible conflicting.

Although I hope you guys know he really doesn't care about this forum anymore, nor does he want to really come back.
