Right, so here is the news that apparently has been known for quite some time now. Shiru has completely abandoned TFM MM, VGM MM, and even things like VGM2TFI and has removed them from existance. Period. He once told me of the negative experiences he has with users in the past about these programs, and that he needs a break from development. After hearing what he had to say, it is understandable, but now he has given up on it completely it seems, even though he said he would update it again at some point in time. I know he needed a break, but to remove it completely? I honestly don't know what is going through his head to make this decision, and it seems like he has vanished also, because I don't know where he is, but in any case, thanks for everything, Shiru. You may not think you had people who appreciated your work, but there are. I really don't know what level of appreciation you want, but what more is possible than people using the software and great thanks for your work? Needless to say, I am very sad and disappointed that it has come down to this, and I am 100% confident that there are many others who feel the same.
Yeah, I'm very disappointed too, thank God I still have the versions of VGM backed up that worked for me the best. It's sad to hear that he wants to "get rid of" the admirers of his work.
And yes, I have to say thanks to him, since we're using the TFD engine in our Genesis homebrew game, it has its flaws but they are very easy to fix by tweaking the songs a little.
About the whole "users being negative" thing... I think it's fair to expect people reporting bugs or problems with the software, since he had never stated that he didn't want to hear about them.
Since there's no dedicated place to share VGM modules, I suggest this thread to be stickied, or at least kept active. I know this is supposed to be the forum for Famitracker, but I don't think letting VGM "die" is the right thing to do.
While I liked Deflemask better, I really liked the program Shiru made where you could extract instruments from Genesis games. I still have that program too.
I never liked TFMMM/VGMMM, but something that seems strange to me is the release dates, and I think that now is the time to tell this because of the stopped development of TFMMM/VGMMM:
- TFM was released on year 2007 (With ONLY YM2612 support)
.. 4 years after
- DefleMask Beta 1 was released (16.05.11, with YMU759 support only)
... Rumors of Genesis Support in DefleMask arrived.
- VGMMM was released (22.06.11 Full Genesis Support)
- DefleMask 3.5 was released (29.08.11 Full Genesis Support)
...
...
...
The lack of Full Genesis in TFM and other things about the GUI and etc, actually inspired me to add Genesis to DefleMask in the beginning, and I think that the whispering that was running around about a possible Multi-System philosophy of DefleMask actually inspired Shiru to add PCM/SN76489 to TFM Music Maker. I could be wrong, but that dates list is suspicious.
Whatever, today, one year after the first DefleMask release, I have to thanks to Shiru for done TFMMM, I never liked it, and that was the reason why I added Full Genesis support to DefleMask.

Sure, Deflemask is getting a lot of use feedback and Delek does actually care, but it can't output a register dump file of the YM2612 like VGM can.
Thanks. About the Register dumps in DefleMask, the next update will include ASM export for all the systems (btw, what do you call register dumps?, you can get the register dumps now by using the VGM export of DefleMask, the VGM Format, not "VGM Music Maker" or something like that).
I meant the .tfd extenson in which VGM can output files. (only YM2612 data is exported, without any PCM data) And that was the easiest way to put music in our game at the time without me having to learn how to use 3 new trackers and make XM modules and stuff like that. If Deflemask is going to have the ability to export easy to implement ASM files, it would be great! Even if only the YM2612 was supported since it would cut down like 90% of the file sizes of the current TFD files.
Wow dude, you don't have to be so disrespectful to Shiru.
Sure, I wish he would add the finishing touches to these trackers one day, but it seems he is happy lately without thinking about this.
I'm not sure myself, so I'm going to ask, is the pitch table corrected for NTSC mode too? (PAL is default since Shiru lives in the PAL region)
If so, it's just a matter of switching to NTSC from PAL and trying to match the speed as well as I can to the PAL ones (I write my songs in PAL, and I might need to make NTSC versions in the future)
Alright, I've been noticing some strange behavior recently with an instrument of mine that uses a maximum Multiplier value for a modulator.
The PAL pitch table (according to the program I used) is always off by 13-16 cents, however the NTSC Pitch table only has a deviation of up to 3 cents. Can anyone else verify this?
Well since he ragequit and deleted all his VGMMM downloads heres a site that has downloads, including 1.1 http://www.mmnt.net/db/0/0/ftp.amigascne.org/mirrors/ftp.modland.com/pub/trackers/Windows/VGM%20Music%20Maker
