i remember reading that multiple expansion chips weren't going to be added due to it not being playable on a console.

That's not entirely true; there's still room for possibility as far as I remember jsr saying.

will using more than a 16kb load of samples ever be implemented into famitracker?

It's been requested a few times, and I think jsr fixed the multiple DMC instruments bug with the intention of implementing genuine DMC sample bankswitching somewhere down the line.

Wait, if ppMCK/MML supports bankswitching, then, doesn't the NSF format too support it?

So then, although not exactly feasible on hardware, it is within the scope of Famitracker as an NSF compiler (oh jeez, that old discussion (FAMIBANANA!)) to eventually enable bankswitching?

Similarly how multiple expansions is within the NSF format. Just not implemented in Famitracker.

So, to best aid JeMappelle, either use the bug (I have no details on how to achieve this) if you plan to export to WAV. And learn/use ppMCK/MML to be able to use bankswitching, just as is necessary for the moment if you want bankswitching or multiple chips or even the missing 5B and N106 chips.

Basically, anything the NSF format can do, Famitracker can be made to do. It all boils down to whatever jsr wants/doesn't want to implement.

awesome. thanks for the help and replies.

Xyz_39808: the "bug" is achieved by loading an instrument that already has DMC samples loaded into it. you can do this whilst another instrument with DMC samples IS loaded.
