i cant believe the type of response this thread got... after so many people have begged JSR to add the extra soundchip support to famitacker... there is a method that uses tracking that allows you to use one of the extra soundchips... and no one seems to care - this is using a tracker... not MML... and all i get are people (hopefully) joking about not know what an S3M file is - ugh

Most people here probably aren't interested in using other trackers, some might never have.

Myself, I've used a few but FT is the only one I like. The others are much too complicated and confusing. I'd love to start making MODs, ITs, XMs and SM3s, but all the trackers I've tried that are capable of making these sucked. To be honest, I'd rather use MML.

Why the hell isn't there a MOD or NSF sequencer out there?

well... i dunno... i guess i expect most people who use famitracker to have a background w/ other trackers - i myself have been using trackers since 96... starting with scream tracker 3 (s3m format) - so to me making s3m files is no challange what so ever... at one time it would have been easier than using famitracker - i've used something like 20 different tracker programs... i dont think its that hard to switch from one to another - learning MML however is quite a challange... nothing like tracking

I have absolutely no background with other trackers myself. I am probably in the minority though. It's pretty just been Logic for me since 2000. However I guess since I've learned FamiTracker it wouldn't be too hard to get to grips with other tracked formats. But my preference would be to stick with FamiTracker, and keep hoping for more functionality.

Has anyone used ModPlug for a tracker? I know this sounds random, and my apologies if it is.

I recommend it for newbs, as I can't really stand the DOS trackers (so annoying, unless it has mouse support ). Just trying to learn NerdTracker (cool as it was) got way too time-consuming for me. You can create standard MOD, XM, S3M, and IT (which uses custom envelopes, and with enough skill could be used to emulate the step envelopes in the 2a03.) Not as good to me as FamiTracker, though. This little thing ROCKS!

MML-MCK to me looks pretty intimidating because of programming language's steep learning curve. Maybe I need to try something new? ('-')

As far as expansion chips, I'll take what I can get, even if it's just the two extra 2a03-style pulse instruments (forgot which mapper this is but still pretty nifty). Better than nothing, I s'pose...
