Everyone here has made music that sucks, I guarantee it. Originality should be an afterthought to pleasing yourself. You should write music that you want to hear.

Actually, I think the forum has been doing pretty well the last few months. As for this guy, wouldn't it better to just email jsr? At least he was honest about rejoining.
Doing well you say? Have you not noticed the sharp drop in notorious and talented members? I'm talking HertzDevil, Mex, danooct1, Javel, etc. They pretty much all left (or got themselves deliberately banned) because of idiot members like the one we're dealing with right now. As long as they're allowed to roam freely around here we'll never be able to get any further as a community than "that bunch of stupid nerds that make music over in that corner of the internet". That's why I get pissed off when bloody trolls and imbeciles just post freely without consequence.
I'm not sure I understand this line of thought, here. Yeah, there's some stupid posts every now and again, but they're easy enough to ignore. I can't imagine rage quitting the forums just because somebody was stupid on the internet.

Find something worth stealing, and...well, steal it.
I love nobuo uematsu's works, and most of my original tracks so far have been my attempts at imitating his style. 'battle with ahuizotl' in particular lifts the bassline structure of FF4 battle 2, and i closely follow the way he builds and releases tension in many of his songs. Yet, unless you're a close fan of his music, you probably wouldn't notice, because the chord progressions and melodies are all my own.
Find a composer or style of music you like, and strive to mimic it.
Gamma - You're off-key in a few parts. I'm not sure if that was an intentional part of the remix or not, but I think it'd be pretty sick if you stuck with the original tonality.

Yeah, i'm listening to it again after I went out for the night, and i'm starting to get the feeling that I guessed the wrong key for the song. It felt somewhere in the neighborhood of a minor earlier, but some things feel more at home with E.
