Has anyone made a drum patterned instrument like the one I attempt here to any good effect?

(PS this tune is best left on loop in the headphones while you do something else. I recommend at least 20 minutes loopage.)

An envelope is just a curve that defines the progression of something on a y-axis through time (represented on the x-axis). In Famitracker, instruments let you define various types of envelopes using an MML string. Some sound hardware like the VRC7 (in Famitracker) or the SID (Commodore 64 audio chip) only let you set volume via an ADSR envelope (short for Attack-Decay-Sustain-Release) where you're limited to choosing the levels at which each one of these stages takes place. So to be fair our friend Jandazekon had part of the answer. But not all of it for sure.

On all synths there is a ADSR envelope that controls the amplitude of the VCO.

I'm fairly sure bomono knows what a volume envelope is...just look at his Final Stage ftm.

Indeed raised Fourths are the shit, and a quick Google search later i figured out what Lydian is.

Well for the first time ever i made a serious composition, and I am very satisfied with how it turned out.
