an 8-bit chip emulator version of SunVox! (Except actually easy to use)

Hey, it's not that hard once you figure it out. I consider SunVox to be a step up from Famitracker. I do like your opinion on broadening the scope of Famitracker, and I share the same opinion.

But SunVox isn't all that confusing. :c

Edit: I feel like I was really late on that comment about Sunvox. ._.

Now that the topic has already been bumped, might as well throw myself on the sunvox bandwagon. I bumped into it for the first time on the android market, impulsively picking it up right before a lengthy car trip. I've never bought any kind of sequencing/production software before, yet i don't regret it for a second.

I generally find SunVox to be insanely easy to brainstorm in, much more so than any other piece of software I've tried. It's almost to the level where it doesn't matter which notes you press, everything sounds good somehow. The sheer amount of instruments you can squeeze out of the supplied generators/filters are also staggering; you basically synthesize anything you could ever imagine in just a few minutes. That amount of flexibility makes it a brilliant base to skecth out ideas on the go, even though it does a fairly decent job at being a full DAW too.

I still use famitracker a lot; the choice of tool completely depends on the ideas i have and my mood at the moment. It never hurts to have more utilities at your disposal, so do give sunvox a shot if you're looking for some change.

Here's one of my first attempts - a few hours worth of messing about on an ancient android tablet.

unfinished, broken, unfinished multi-chip...

Actually, I just typed in 64 (because 1, 2, 4, 8,...) and got the 5B expansion. Though making an instrument is another story...

Making an instrument is just a matter of entering something in the instruments section of the text field though. It doesn't have to contain any info on the instrument itself; the text importer will just spit out an error and halt the import process, after having added the instrument.

Unless you mean actually creating the instrument once that's done, but I think that's pretty easy.

I mean saving the instrument to an FTI.

That has been "fixed"

Didn't test it thoroughly though. :P

This might sound noobish, but how do I used Cheat Engine to change the amount of channels in the Namco chip, and can I use it to decide what chips I want?

Why do you need Cheat Engine to do this? It can be done, but it will be a hard and long process which will get your hands dirty. Just mess with one of the attached text files, and if you need anything specific after that, just post here.

I assumed you would use cheat engine because I misread an old post that I can't be arsed to retrieve. Either way, I was just wondering if there was a tutorial on adding multiple chips, or if someone had made an updated version of the multichip pack.

I don't think it's possible to do it with .txt files. But with Cheat Engine, who knows...

In the new version (0.4.2), you can import text files and mess with them into Famitracker. This is what I mean.

Yeah but there are still some unsupported channel combinations (like VRC7 plus 8 N163 channels).
