Attached is a modified version FT 4.2 that should be friendlier on the ears of musical peoples with sensitive hearing.

I changed line 119 in SoundGen.cpp to m_pAPU->SetNamcoMixing(TRUE); which seems to remove the hiss.

If I broke any rules or terms with this upload, delete this post and I won't do it again.

Also a possible bug: the left-hand menu in the DPCM samples tab in the instrument editor is all greyed out for me. I attached a screenshot.

Famitracker is open source, so you didn't break any rule or law by posting this. Thanks by the way!

I already said this in another thread, but the N163 wave envelopes act strange if you set the first macro to anything over 0. It will skip the macro on the first row, and the bug never happens again until you stop the song and play it again. The attachments shows what I mean.

I would have removed the two // in Settings.cpp that load the secret registry setting, just because that makes it still an option (and exactly like for 0.4.1 worked).

But anyhow, yeah, easy to re-enable. It just makes me sad that many people are going to end up using a fork over this.

I see that the problem with FDS release still isn't fixed... I'll be waiting patiently.

Yes, me too. That's an issue I foretold before 0.4.2 was even released, and which I think could've been avoided.

I don't see it as much of a problem, unless somehow this fork gets different bugs than the main branch; in which case it'd make catching and reporting bugs pretty hard.

Or, well, one could reserve the use of the fork for working on N163...?

Sorry for bumping this thread for something kind of off-topic, but Slimeball, shouldn't you release the source, since this *is* GPL-ed? Also, will you continue this fork for all the future versions?

I'm not an expert but I assume saying "I changed this line for that" qualifies as "sharing the source".
