I found that some time ago. It's frustrating, but it's how the chip works. The instrument's wave is assigned to the memory but they cannot have their own position. They will all be put in the same slot.
Any tips to using Wave #? I can't have a lot of main instruments in the list: It would be annoying to scroll down each one (despite able to name them: I'm somewhat lazy. ^^; )

That is NOT how the chip works though. The chip has no understanding what an instrument is. That's all handled by the game programming and its sound engine. Your program must still read and update the chip's registers $00-3F to determine the waveform.
I believe jsr's nsf engine already does a spectacular job of automating tricky waveform programming via the duty cycle/wave macros (check out the S channel comments on lepage's cover) but some manual freedom would also be nice

Don't get confused by that. It's more something technical than practical. You can read it but if it twists you, better stop and remind what you had in mind before. As you wrote, you had already understood what the N163 expansion can do, so better not get confused or you might have to start from the beginning.
Than how do I play 2+ wave-differed instruments at the same time on one main instrument? I'm sorry if this is repetitive, I'm somewhat in a rush right now...
I think he means "using more than 2 waves at a time"
Which would be very straight forward...just put them to yet another memory location.
Or maybe having more than one wave per instrument? Well, just add more...it's in the top right corner of the wave editor.
Okay...but is there a technique and trick? Like The 25% wave would be use for deep and high octave in each wave? Like Wave 1 is normal, wave 2 would be deep, and wave 3 would be high pitch?
(Not the main instument, I meant wave position. ^^; )
Impossible with the current features. Each instrument has all its waves in the same position, you cannot change them. If you need to use different waves, you MUST make a new instrument.
Look: You have two Namco channels, and one instrument with three waves, 50% Pulse, Sawtooth and 25% Pulse. If you use this instrument in both Namco channels, they will need to have the same wave, because if one of them changes, both will do.
If a Vxx effect pops up in only one of these channels, for example V01, your wave will change to Sawtooth in both of them. If you put a V02, they will switch to a 50% Pulse wave.
We currently cannot change the memory position for each wave in an instrument. I don't think if it would be easy, useful, or whatever. We should ask jsr to see if this will be possible.
