Update (2013-04-15): Ooh boy. Time to reveal the results. First of all though, let me just quickly mention how pleased I am with the outcome of this contest. A lot of these entries were simply incredible! Every module in the top 10 could've been a demo, in my opinion.
But enough talk. Time to congratulate our winner. This time around it's...

Jayster, with the TMNT: Tournament Fighter - Scrapyard Swing remix!
With 18.7, and an outstanding entry indeed, Jayster achieves the highest score in DemoCompo history so far. Close behind with 17.5 is Necrophageon, with his amazing DKC2 cover! And neck and neck with 16.9 and 16.8 respectively, SriK and Mr_Master come 3rd and 4th - and indeed, Mr_Master steals 3rd place in the Musicality category!
Here is the full entry pack with all entries left intact with their original author info and comments. See you in a few weeks for DC8!
Update (2013-04-10): Okay, time's up. I've received most people's votes. Unfortunately, I won't be home until another couple of days, so until then, I can't compile the votes and post the results. Sorry for the wait!
Update (2013-03-27): Download the entry pack here!
Because April 1st is just around the corner, and there's so many entries (including one that clocks in at a whooping 11m30s!), I've decided to extend the voting period until April 10th. I will update the text document when I have time.
Enjoy the tunes! There's some pretty impressive material in there.
Well, the time has come to give this contest series a new breath of life!
I'm going to assume most of you know the drill by now, so I'll skip the introductory speech. For those of you who are new to this, this thread will fill you in.
For this installment of DemoCompo, the sound hardware to use is the Namco 163 expansion. You are limited to using between 1 and 4 N163 channels.
Without further ado, I declare this contest officially started! If you think you're going to enter, please say so in this thread so I can add your name to the list of participants. This isn't required (you could still enter without having signed up here), but this is to give me a rough estimate of how many people are going to be entering.

You may download a RTF file containing the rules of this competition here.
On March 20, 2013 I will start collecting entries, and on March 27, 2013, the submission period ends and voting begins. On March 31, 11:59 PM EST, voting ends, and the results will be published whenever I'm done compiling them. :)
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them here (or send me a tweet) and I'll answer them as soon as I have a minute to spare.
That is all. Best of luck to everyone who's entering!
I have been very busy as of late, but I intend to start up an original for this.
Might wanna pull back the reigns on that one. This competition is for covers only. The (hopefully) next one will be originals again, though. But if you've got stuff you can cover, then definitely go for it!
Yes, the title and rules clearly state that this competition is only open to covers, arrangements, remixes etc., and that originals are strictly forbidden. DemoCompo 8 will be an originals-only competition though, and all being well it'll probably run straight after this one is over.
