Kirby Super Star medley... YES!! That game's music is way too underrated but it has some of the most fantastic melodies and progressions... (hell, it's why I started transcribing them/dissecting them, there's a lot to learn from 'em).
Time got away from me so I didn't get anything done for this, but I'll definitely be voting. Hopefully next time I'll finish something. There's some really great entries here though. Good luck guys!
Took a listen through the rest now, some really nice stuff. I enjoyed #5's tunes, though I personally would've liked additional instrumentation/arrangement changes--pretty melodies either way. I can understand sticking to the solo guitar aesthetic though. Also really dug the de Niro movie score covers, the Taxi Driver score's been one of my favorites for a long while. And of course I already gushed over #17.
Slimeball: thanks! Yeah, I'm actually going to do the entire KSS soundtrack (aiming for an article a week pacing-wise). So stay tuned if you're into that kinda thing. But enough of my derailing, heh.
I dunno why a couple people are down on 12. I thought it was well made, maybe not my first choice of a song, but that's not really what this is about right? I was really impressed with a couple of these, and I don't think there was a single entry that I hated (though there were one or two that were kind of iffy). Really quality stuff for the most part.
Edit: Ha I knew I heard 12 somewhere. It's a cover of Blitz Lunar's opening for MLP. Maybe everyone knew that already? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqX7JsfkNmk
I horribly said Entry 10 was horrible because I was a bit angry(I edited my previous post so I could remove my nonsense). What I meant but didn't say is that it relied too much on DPCM but still sounds a bit fun. I found two curiosities while listening to it again:
1.- The bass notes are pretty detuned, but you don't notice until you find out it is like that.
2.- My attachment. I think it's a bug.
Also has two additional channels enabled which aren't used. I hope it has a good reason to be like that. Plus, whoever made it, please don't use so many convincing bass notes because they make me feel sorry for downgrading it. Now the song is stuck in my head.
And Entry 12 was actually very, very good. By "disappointing" I tried to mean that it was too short, because it's a good song. Sounds pretty good and overall seems well done.
Sorry for releasing my chained stupidity once again.
Oh, hey! There's a Mario in Entry 20, and it also says HURRY STAR FISH!
Whatever, congrats everyone for your entries. Everything's even better that in previous DCs. And I now hate entry 11 because it's just too cool, which means I will lose!
