Well, it seems dead most of the time, unless Raijin and co. are on. I do not have anything against the IRC but it is more often easier to try to get an answer from those youngsters over on the #botb channel than trying to spark life into #famitracker.

It's never going to gain activity if people like you keep deterring potential new members. Ever thought about that?

Judging by the few times I've looked at the IRC, it's not going to gain activity unless someone popular speaks highly of it.

Well it definitely has its share of funny moments and reputable users. Most people who don't post here because of how the forums have turned out tend to be around on the irc channel a lot.

I don't see what exactly is wrong with the forums in their current state. Could you elaborate, please? Enlighten me.

Well, really the only thing I know of is that the forums software is derpy and clunky. That's about it. Though, I've only been here a year and a half or so, I haven't witnessed any of the major trolls.

We've had to deal with a lot of troublesome members in the past, some of which caused a lot of drama. Alliances created. Some people were banned, causing others to vow not to return. We also got a lot of spammers, trolls and other generally unpleasant people, which prompted jsr and myself to be very intolerant towards certain kinds of attitudes, which in turn caused some other members to become upset at the way this place was managed. Basically, a lot of political bs turned this place into the laughing stock of the chiptune community.

Hertzdevil, danooct1 and mex are arguably the most notorious members of the chiptune community who aren't allowed to post here any longer.

At least the IRC channel is pretty much free of this political nonsense, plus there's a bunch of cool people hanging out there. Those who claim the place is inactive just happen to log in at the wrong hours - we're mostly EST night owls.

Also, just say hi. START the conversation. This is how it works when people lurk aka idle on irc.

OT:I recently got a steam account (same name as on here) but I have 0 games because too poor and I can't even run steam AND pirated games because of not enough CPU because, again, too poor.

What happened with danooct1? I got the impression he was getting along quite well with RJ1 but maybe that's outdated...

He shitposted. A lot.

Also at one point he requested to be banned and then made some giant text in red saying fuck you to jsr. Or something like that, but definitely explicitly asked to be banned

Seems like I've seen posts by Mex... and recent ones, too. Odd.

Real games!

Like the minecraft!

Or the source filmmakers!

(but I really don't think too many people here would own a $45(USD) racing simulator that hasn't been released yet)

But, what about those who want to play video games with other members here, and don't want to just message random-ish people and go through the trouble of adding them on steam? I think of this less as a way to communicate about famitracker, and more for people who use famitracker to communicate about games.
