Yes, I am wholly implying that in order to uphold some sorts of standards you would refuse what are obviously troll entries and although supernsf isn't strictly only capable of that, even any useful implementation isn't very impressive because it does show great skill of 6502 programming but it is a poor display of 2a03 programming and composing.
I agree with JRLepage, sort of, and also find that I will never enter a competition as long as I stay such a darned perfectionist, to the point that I scrap perfectly fine songs because they aren't great, they're just fine.
- each contestant will have five days between wednesday and sunday to write a valid entry for the round. entries will be submitted into http://s3m.it, which will be open on those days
Alright, there goes my chance. I'm way too busy and tired because of school these days to stick to deadlines like this.

Also, I'm of the opinion it should be down to the voters to decide how to deal with so-called "troll entries" (given that this is a vote-driven competition). Concepts like "troll entry" have the potential to become huge grey areas, with some people's definition of a "troll entry" differing greatly from the next person's.
For example, I didn't ban what I considered to be troll entries in any of my Democompo installments, precisely because I knew my idea of what's a troll entry wouldn't be the same as other people's, and I felt it would be imposing my own vision on everybody else. The voters took care of voting for those in consequence, anyway. Banning 2A03 PCM in this situation is essentially the same thing, where you disallow perfectly valid techniques on the grounds that you perceive it as "potential troll material".
The $4011 register can be used to play PCM samples directly by setting the counter value at a high frequency. Because this requires intensive use of the CPU, when used in games all other gameplay is usually halted to facilitate this.
All the workload is on the 6502.

I'm guessing that's the reason, prevent trolls. But it very may well be just because supernsf is unimpressive. I personally have not heard it used well.
The whole point is to have a compo with arbitrary limits. So the no-pcm limit is just another one of those, except constant throughout every week.
In any case, it's kfara's compo and he can do as he wants. If you don't accept that you're free to host your own compo where there aren't such limits. And I'd probably enlist because I'm fucking tired of being in environments where he has all the power
This backs up neither the statement that supernsf NSFs are unimpressive, nor the one that they are poor displays of 2A03 composing (I'll skip on the programming portion, because let's be honest, who here considers the NSF-making process to be programming when the tools we use handle the programming aspects automatically?).
An NSF most definitely is a program, I'll give you that. But programming isn't the point of using Famitracker - making music is! ppMCK is another story though...
