Hey, what's up! So, some of you might remember that one of my first posts here (around 2 years ago) was a WIP soundtrack for a NES-styled 2D sidescrolling action game I was going to work on. Well, several iterations and long "breaks" later, it's become a game tentatively titled Steel Assault, and I decided to work on a new, more ambitious soundtrack.
Anyway, here are some songs I've created for the game so far. I think I've posted one or two of these in the old doodles thread, but most of it is new stuff.
intro.ftm - Theme song for the game's opening cinematic (which is done in 4-color FMV). You can view it here.
title.ftm - Song that plays over the game's title screen / options menu / etc.
streets.ftm - First area of the first level, which takes place in the streets of a ruined Washington, D.C. May replace with a more "energized" tune, but it seems good for now.
metro.ftm(incomplete) - Second area of the first level, which takes place on the DC metro.
streetsInterlude.ftm(incomplete) - Short area between getting off the metro and the first boss fight. Might also be used for the tutorial instead.
clubBoss.ftm - Music for the first boss fight, which takes place in a club. Uses samples from Kanye West's Good Life and LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem (thanks to PaulMannIV for giving me this idea).
docks.ftm - The second level, which takes place on the docks (maybe National Harbor).
Hope you guys enjoy them, and more coming soon! And any feedback or criticism is always appreciated. Thanks!
(Also, by the way, if anyone has any suggestions for a cooler/less generic-sounding name for the game, those are welcome too. :P)
you could combine these into a single ftm, you know. the instruments don't have to be the same (in fact, ft asooms they are different by default!)
Man, don't diss on SriK, this is awesome.

I'm sorry If I'm being a jerk again.
this probably wouldn't have happened if if jsr didn't kill the short loops and doodles thred while I was on forum probation.

I would have done this all in one FTM, except that 1) Famitracker has a 64 instrument limit (which might not be enough for the entire soundtrack) and even more importantly 2) you can only have 256KB total of DPCM in a single file, which is probably not enough for the amounts of DPCM abuse I want in this soundtrack (and which you can already see in a few songs, e.g. the intro and boss theme which use 30KB and 43KB of DPCM respectively). I'll probably see if combining everything is possible once the entire soundtrack is finalized.

Is this a limit in the Famitracker engine or is it just an arbitrary limit? If it's arbitrary, I'd appreciate jsr to raise the limit =O

Thanks, everyone! If you guys want to follow the game's development, we now have a Twitter and Tumblr page. I'll post some more tracks here as I finish them.
