It doesn't have to be the letter L, I guess. Just any unused letter.
This effect would be nearly identical to the Sxx effect, but instead of a cutoff, it would be a release. On multiple occasions, I've found myself wanting a delayed release command, and this would be exactly it. If the instrument has no release in its volume macro, it would function exactly the same as the Sxx effect.
And, on a side note, I exported a module using the DPCM release function and only the first release worked properly. All the other releases didn't register for some reason.
