* Please fix the channelbox with pattern numbers, so that it gets wider when using VRC6. Scrolling left and right makes it really hard to have a complete look over the song.
* The Home button, please let us have the opportunity to chose it to work as "just go to the top of the channel I am standing in without moving left or right"
* The volume column had no effect on the VRC channels!
Otherwise, nice update!
Thanks!
You can use Ctrl+Home to go straight to the top. If it's not good enough then I guess an option can be added.
The volume-thing was a last minute mistake by me before I uploaded it yesterday and is corrected now. Another thing I adjusted was the sawtooth volume calculation by simply just multiplying it by two (this fixes the volume problem when exporting to NSF). This gives only half of the possible resolution for that channel, but it's the easiest solution and I don't really think it'd be worth expanding the volume range just for that...
I'll also come up with a better solution for the frame editor.
By the way, is there a way to hide everything except the pattern editor? This might be useful to people with low resolutions. The status bar and toolbar can be hidden in the "view" menu, but if you're on a netbook with 600 pixels vertically or less you really want every pixel on the screen to be put to good use. A smaller font size would help here, too. How are the bitmap fonts coming anyway? I noticed mod2psg uses them.
I think I'm going to start a new thread about the frame editor and list things that could be improved...
Another update uploaded. Apparently there was still some quirks with sawtooth volume, hopefully it's all fixed now.
The frame editor is now also expanding with the number of channels. This was more tricky to add than I thought and required some hacking, so I might have broken something else. (MFC coding is really a mess!)
Dafydd: I've included an option to hide the control panel, and should probably assign a shortcut also to make it useful. And I'm working on adding bitmap fonts, but it won't be done until the next version. Same goes for the layout, I'll wait until after next version until I touch it.
Ryukenden: Haha yes, VRC7 will reappear in a later version. Probably after next full release.
Just noticed a bug introduced in WIP 5: after using Ctrl+F1-F4 to change the semitone/octave of a note, the pattern field doesn't update until you move the cursor. >.>

Go for the FDS channel first, especially now when The PowePak supports replay of FDS-NSF's! I will try that mod with my US NES this christmas and hopefully it works so that FDS sound is there!
* When changing the "Edit settings" Step x, it skips 2 numbers... Strange!
* Switch CTRL-Home function with CTRL-only function. Or implement possibilty to choose, thanks!
i would argue that going for SUNSOFT and MMC5 first would be the better bet, due to being easier to implement. FDS has to be one of the hardest. that said, it's also the expansion i'm most interested in.
Great update!! And thanks for fixing a highlight editor!
But as Kreese has already pointed out, changing the step length makes it jump 2 steps instead of 1. Strange indeed! And like Kizul said the pattern editor doesn't update properly. For me moving the cursor doesn't work, but you have to enter/exit edit mode before it updates. Weird.
I still think channel icons in the frame editor would help, but the fact that it changes size to accomodate all the channels, so you don't have to scroll, is very nice.
I've noticed that in this new WIP, Shift+Enter doesn't loop the current frame over. This was pretty handy when you were trying to work on a specific section. Is there anyway this loop functionality could be re-implemented? The other new features are great though! Thanks!
I've noticed that when you are in edit mode. And insert a note in a channel that are muted. It automaticly puts F in volume column...! If it's not muted it works as it should.
JSR - Thank you for implementing the VRC6 chip into FamiTracker! The thought and effort you put into this handy program is deeply appreciated by chip-tuners like me.
That being said, the only bug I am hearing is a volume bug either on FamiTracker's end or FCEU's end, and that has to do with the Sawtooth channel for the VRC6.
You'd have to hear what I mean...
