basically: click somewhere in the patterns on one of the expansion channels, then create a new instrument (all expansions except MMC5 use their own instruments.) you should get sound from the expansion channels. i assume this is what you wanted to know? if you're having a more specific problem, please explain.
anyway, personally i'd recommend not using expansions until you're comfortable using the regular channels, otherwise it'll just be more confusing.
