I need to separate two notes because they are the same note, and I need them to be played separately, but if I put in a cut-off, the second note comes in too late. Is there any way to change this without going through the ordeal of changing the tempo mid song?

Use the H00 effect on the first note. You should hear it play the note again.

S0(subtract one from speed)

Such as S05 for a speed 6 song.

Yup, that too. You can also use S01 for some cool stacatto effects.
