Could it be possible that FT can be really installed into the system via a Installer and has an option to be completely wiped from the system? (e.g: Select if Registry values should be kept or not etc).
NSIS could be used.
The unregister option is part of the MFC framework so it has been there since the beginning. But it didn't erase the settings initially, only remove the file association.
